Welcome to First Grade! I am excited to be your child's teacher this year! First grade is a year full of many wonderful learning experiences both socially and academically. We will work to strengthen our reading skills by learning strategies to help us decode words as well as increase fluency and reading comprehension. In math we will utilize many techniques to help us add and substract. We will cover topics including place value, measurement, time and money. First grade is a rewarding year where you will notice much growth in your child. We will listen to and read stories, sing songs and participate in many hands on activities while learning to work together and gain independence.
