    The American Legion's High School Oratorical Scholarship Program 2020 - This scholarship contest "A Constitutional Speech Contest" is open to students in grades 9 through 12 who are under 20 years old and a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States. The winner of the County Contest will receive a $500.00 scholarship and a chance to win up to $4,000 in then A>L> Department of NJ contest. The Department Winner will compete at the National level where the 1st place award is $18,000.00; 2nd place is $16,000.00,  and 3rd place is $14,000.00.The contestants will be judged on two parts, the first being an 8-10 minutes prepared oration which must be on some aspect of the Constitution of the United States with emphasis on the duties and obligations of a citizen of our government.     Joseph Taub Athlete Awards - This prestigious Bergen County award is open to all student-athletes in their senior year who demonstrate strong academic ability and exemplary leadership skills in sports, school, and within your community. One male and one female athlete, will each receive a $3,600 college scholarship. Second and third place scholarships will also be awarded. Deadline is Tuesday, December 31, 2019. Membership at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is not required to enter or win.
