Welcome to the Wood-Ridge District

  • Dear Wood-Ridge Community Members,

I hope all of you and your loved ones are well and safe. As we come to the end of another very successful and challenging school year in Wood-Ridge, I would like to take
this opportunity to thank you for all of your support in assisting us with educating your children to the greatest extent.

Once again, the year began very eventful, celebrating many achievements in sports, academics, and the performing arts. Then in early March all of our lives changed by an
invisible enemy that shut down the world leaving us in isolation. This single virus affected our civil society physically, emotionally, economically and socially. However, we faced the challenge by uniting together, and with compassion and unselfishness, we have seen a decline in new infections and deaths.

I would like to thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time. These are unprecedented times with many of us being affected, directly or indirectly, by this public health crisis. Despite the negative, we have adapted to the situation, and for every terrible story we see or hear, there are two stories of kindness and courage that inspire us. I am so
appreciative of the entire school community who has come together quickly and efficiently and put a program in place that provides our students with solid educational growth. The students, parents, teachers, and staff have all distinguished themselves by their actions, attitude, and professionalism. I could not be prouder of the Wood-Ridge

Our Administrators have been working on our educational plan for the next school year, as well as, current plans for our staff and students who would like to retrieve their personal items. Later this month students will also be notified of similar plans to return school textbooks, materials and equipment.

We are also offering online enrichment and extended school year instruction over the summer for students who are in need of additional preparation for the next school year.

Our Athletic Department is keeping abreast of guidelines from the NJSIAA of the resumption of high school athletics.

We are also developing several educational plans for our next school year, using the guidelines from the New Jersey Department of Education. We are developing procedures
for both a virtual and a re-opening plan of our schools. The Bergen County Association of School Administrators have formulated a school re-opening committee to determine the challenges that will be faced in September and are developing a plan for a smooth transition. We have created sub-committees that will focus on safety, curriculum, scheduling, and PPE, which will be reliant on the state guidelines and evolving data.

As many of you are probably wondering, we are currently unsure what school will looklike in September due to COVID 19.  I am hopeful that we will be back in the classrooms
with our students and continuing to challenge them.  I encourage you to follow the district website for updates this summer as it relates to the 2020-2021 school year.

I am so thankful to be able to serve such an amazing group of students, parents, faculty and staff. I wish you all a very happy, safe and enjoyable summer. Please be sure to take
time as a family to talk, play and read together.

    Best wishes!

    Nick Cipriano
    Superintendent of Schools
