The Wood-Ridge Public School District’s
Gifted & Talented program is designed to meet the highly
individualized needs of exceptionally able students, grades K-12. The purpose of the program is to provide these
students with differentiated educational experiences which will
encourage critical and creative thinking, inquiry and investigation,
problem solving, decision-making, communication skills, and a greater
awareness and understanding of self and others. Emphasis in the Gifted and Talented program is
placed upon critical thinking skills using the regular Board of
Education curriculum. The program is primarily process-oriented; that
is, focused on the development of skills and thinking processes rather
than on a specific body of content. The Gifted and Talented program grades K-8
encourages our most capable academic students to explore their potential
and interests by way of a flexible differentiated curriculum. As
students develop higher order thinking skills through literature,
inquiry, research, writing, and discussion, they build self-esteem, in
addition to leadership skills. Their advanced thinking styles and
critical and creative problem solving capabilities are fostered as they
move toward realizing their potential contributions to themselves and to
society. For specific class information, please visit the G&T eBoard by clicking HERE. |
